Visiting practices around the country is fascinating. You never know what to expect, and there are always little surprises waiting to be found. This photo is a great example of one of those wonderful gems that are just waiting to leap out and grab your attention. I found it on the refrigerator door in a practice in northern Kentucky. It’s actually several pages in length and the staff have been adding to it for quite a while. It’s called the “Simple Pleasures in Life”, and team members have posted all the little things in life they find pleasure in: finding another french fry in the bottom of the bag, a camp fire, seeing shooting stars, drinking coffee, etc.
I was struck with the thought that this is such a simple way to not only get to know one another better, but to put a smile on one another’s face. This find not only made me smile, but it inspired me to take a look at the simple things I enjoy in life.
- Coffee in the morning on my patio with my dog
- Watching the fish jump at dawn in the lake behind my house
- Sunsets while I’m driving….well, actually anytime (I’m a sucker for a great sunset)
- A really great song on the radio when I’m driving
- Being introduced as the newest member of a team when I begin working with a practice
- Listening to the creek from the deck at Wild Loose
- A smiling TSA agent
- Text messages from my daughter
- Indiana Popcorn brand kettle corn (I’m truly addicted to this stuff!)
